Why should I invest in the Skills and Drills“Ultimate Baseball Training System”? Our Ultimate Baseball Training System (12 tapes & books) is the most comprehensive baseball training system ever made. Dr. Stockton developed his proper kinetic teaching skills over a 40 year period of Coaching & Teaching baseball, both to his teams and 35 years of campers. He had 1,000 Victories as a head baseball coach from High School, to Jr. College (San Jacinto) to Division 1 NCAA (University of Houston & TCU), a PhD. in Kinesiology, and a thesis on Teaching Youth Sports. There is no one who has studied baseball more than the Doctor. When these skills were combined with Video Technology they became the Ultimate Baseball Training System. So invest in yourself and your abilities, by perfecting them with our system.
Should I set up a Garage Practice Lab for Home Training? You should always work on your individual skills outside of team practice. Work with a partner or by yourself. Mirror drills are great for the garage, or set up a camera and go through the 11 critical body positions. Don’t forget the rolley and jump rope for conditioning.
What should I do on Rainy or Snowy days? Rainy days are often when you can get the most work done. Break your team down into small groups and work on some of the small but critical fundamentals. This is an excellent time to study our tapes to reinforce those fundamentals.
How Important is Repetition? Proper repetition is always important because it builds muscle memory and confidence in your skills. The old saying use it or loose it is correct. During the season, off season or even during an injury, it is very important to practice the skills that you can. Take a little time every day and work on different individual skills, or specialize on the skills that are giving you trouble. These efforts will pay off by building new confidence in your total abilities, and make baseball more fun to play.
What part does Strength & Conditioning play in baseball?
Strength and Conditioning is very important in all sports, but especially baseball. Heat & humidity sap your energy late in games or especially during the second game of a double header. The being in shape will allow your skills to come through.
Can I just get by on Athleticism? Baseball is not a sport where the guy who can run faster, jump higher & farther or lift more always win. Sure these feats of athleticism will help you. Combine those factors with the skills that you perfect through practice and repetition, and you won’t just be getting by, You will be perfecting your game.
Knowing Baseball vs Teaching Baseball? Many people think they know baseball, and many people do. But, can you transfer your knowledge of the game to your Players, Coaches or Students? Our Ultimate Baseball Training System will help you with new ways to teach, reinforce your abilities to teach, making you a better teacher or coach.
What’s the best way to Plan my Practices? The worst thing to see at a practice is one guy pitching, one guy hitting and everyone else standing around shagging fly balls.Take advantage of the size of the baseball field. Have a group doing one drill down the left field line, another group doing another drill down the right field line and infield practice going on at the same time. You can substitute batting practice for infield practice by having a player with a glove guard each group working down the lines just as you would a pitcher warming up.
Another thing to do is use parents or other players to help you work these drills if you are coaching by yourself. Even a parent that never played can work a bounce drill it they are shown what to do.
How do I keep Practice Fun? Baseball is a game, many times coaches and parents seem to forget this. The purpose of a game is to have fun and enjoy it. Most people would agree that it’s more fun to beat your friends than your enemies. While we hope you don’t have any enemies, you can insert competitive games and drills into your practices. Let your players beat their fellow teammates. This will make them better players and in many cases better friends, and definitely better teammates. Practice should not be something that you dread going to, it should be fun and enjoyable. P.S. – so should the games!
What is the Best Age to get my ball player started? It is never too soon to start your ball player doing things the right way. Age seven or eight is a great age to really start to working on skills. Before that just have fun. Play catch in the yard, the park or play ground. Don’t throw to hard and let them hit the ball. Encourage them, while remembering this age will not come back again. Have FUN.
Which Tape should I get started with? Baseball is the only game I can think of that when you are holding the ball; your team is on defense. So I recommend our Defensive Skills tape. Every position can learn fielding and throwing techniques from this tape.
